Okay, so this past weekend I've been helping out at the tertiary studies expo that is held in Brisbane every year. It's basically a big gathering of all the universities and TAFEs and other academic institutions across both Queensland and Australia that some high school students or adults may consider as places in which to further their education. It was the first time that I'd actually been to that particular expo. In high school we had similar, smaller events, which meant that I knew what to expect from the student side. It was really interesting looking at it from the 'worker' side though. Really busy for a start. That was definitely a noticeable difference. When you're the student you're the one walking around and you get to decide who to approach. As a worker, you have to be prepared to answer any question. I'm not an academic and I din't try to act like one. I'm a student and so I answered the questions as best I could, drawing on my experiences, which is what I was there to do. And I think, well, I hope, that I helped a lot, if not at least a couple of people make some decisions about what they wanted to do when they left school.
Now, we get to the reason behind the ranting. What the expo really made me think about was what I wanted to do when I leave university and hopefully get a job. My biggest goal, my main want from this degree and in life, is to work in film. I want to make documentaries and short films that explore the many different cultures out there in our big wide world. Hopefully, being a foreign correspondent will help me be able to do that. So, that's what I want to do. Be a foreign correspondent and make cultural documentaries exploring places like the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Well, just anywhere really.
Now, doing this thinking made me think about how I might better my blog and focus it more on what I want out of everything. All this thinking was really focused around what I like and what I want to do. What I want to do with a blog is review things like books and movies, music and maybe even things like television and games. I like reading and watching foreign language films a lot and I want to be able to incorporate that into this blog.
So, it's time for re-vamp. And I'll try to even include some video maybe. Now that I think about that, it could be quite cool. And I did say that I wanted to do that. So, ladies and gentlemen, lords and m'ladies. Watch this space.
Construction currently underway.
